Calibration procedure

The calibration procedure is defined in the standard as follows:

  • Checking the general conditions
  • Direct testing
  • Indirect testing
  • Preparation of the calibration certificate

1. Direct verification

  • Calibration of the test force with force transducer and measuring force amplifier
  • Testing of the indenter (or availability of a calibration certificate)
  • Calibration of the measuring system with object micrometer with depth measuring device
  • Test cycle check with stopwatch

2. Indirect verification

  • Determination of the functionality of the hardness testing machine with hardness test block

3. Statement of Conformity

The conformity statement in the calibration certificate confirms that the measurement results obtained are within the tolerance limits required by the standard.

Example Conformity Statement:

The hardness testing machine was tested and calibrated according to Rockwell (HRC) in accordance with ISO 6508. The measured values of the direct and indirect test are within the permissible deviations.
